Fijacion Oral Vol. 1

Here is Shakira back! After a silence of one year and an half, Shakira comes back with such a wonderful work! The hit "La Tortura" is just an example of the mix of sounds in this new album. Shakira explores a lot of rhythms, she foucuses almost in a maniacal way on the details and the result is an awesome and professional work! She goes from the latin and tropical reggaton of "La Tortura" to the electronical "La Pared", from the bossanova sound of "Para Obtener Un si", to the slow ballad "No", from the pop "Dia Especial" to the energic "Escondite Ingles". An album full of surpises, moving and overwhelming at the same time.
The album is singed in spanish, but french and german come up in a few songs, such as "En Tus Pupilas", "Escondite Ingles" and "Lo Imprescindible".
Shakira co-worked with two of the biggest artists of latin pop: Alejandro Sanz, in the duet "La Tortura" and Gustavo Cerati, in "Dia Especial" and "No".
Fijacion Oral is avaiable in the dual disk, too. In the dvd part you can find a very nice and interview made by Sanz to Shakira. You can't miss it!

Live & Off The Record

It is her second live album. The concert was the one performed in Rotterdam, in 2003 during the Tour Of The Mongoose. An exiting, overwhelming and energic concert, without any doubt! The songs performed are the ones from Laundry Service, Donde Estan Los Ladrones and Pies Descalzos, but filled with a powerful rock influence: so you can listen to the energic "Poem To A Horse" and "Objection (Tango)", or to the fantastic cover "Back In Black", a powerful tribute to Rock 'N Roll.
A singular performance is the one of "Octavo Dia", a song which is used by Shakira to send her message against war: the video transmitted during the performance is symbolical, as well as the touching speech made right after the song. This let us understand how Shakira is involved in social matters.
In the dvd part you can also find a long documentary: her life "off the record"! Shakira tells her fans very much about her personality, about her life, her music and, again, about social issues and the way she tries to play her role to solve them.

Grandes Exitos

Here it is her first Greatest Hits. It was released more or less in the same period of Laundry Service and it seems to mark her change from spanish to english: it's a kind of summary of her past hits, before getting into her new music. It's the best album for people who knows Shakira because of her present hits and now are curious to discover what she did in her past. The songs are taken from Pies Descalzos, Donde Estan Los Ladrones, Mtv Unplugged, and from the spanish hits of Laundry Service.

Washed & Dried

It's a special edition of "Laundry Service". The tracklist is the same, plus two remixes ("Whenever, Wherever" and "Objection", in the same version written on the occasion of the MTV Video Music Awards 2002) and a awesome acoustic live version of "Underneath Your Clothes". This album is a dual disk, so it has a dvd disk, too. It was a limited edition, so it's very difficuld to find it now.

Laundry Service

Here it is the turing point in Shakira's music! The language is changed (from spanish to english) and the style as well: the songs are more commercial than the old ones; after all, it was inevitable since her aim was to reach europe and U.S.A.
So, new big hist, such as "Whenever, Wherever" and "Objection (Tango)". Commercial, but never cheap! Every song is different and let us understand that her style is mature, that she really knows about music. It's a very energic album, slow songs are only 3. But she doesn't want to give up spanish completely: Shakira sings a spanish version of the two biggest hits ("Suerte" and "Te Aviso Te Anuncio"),"Que Me Quedes Tu" and "Te Dejo Madrid", which are the two singles released in South America.

Mtv Unplugged

Maybe the best evidence of Shakira's talent! It's an unplugged concert, performed for Mtv, which proves her great muscial skill. The songs are the same ones singed in "Donde Estan Los Ladrones" ("Que Vuelvas" excepted, because a great and original version of "Estoy Aqui" took its place) but every song is performed in a new version. A fantastic concert, her exhibition hasn't any fault and, of course, originality isn't lacking! "Estoy Aqui" and "Ciega, Sordomuda" stand out between the other songs, due to their new and original version, but also "Moscas En La Casa" and "Sombra De Ti", much more exspressive than the studio versions.
There are both the dvd, as well as the audio cd version of this album.

Donde Estan Los Ladrones

It's the greatest success of the Latin Shakira. 11 awesome and original songs, a great mix of different sounds and instuments over a pop backround. Every single song has something special, new: "Ciega, Sordomuda" and "Ojos Asi" are maybe the most original; ballads aren't lacking ("Moscas En La Casa", "Tù" and "Sombra De Ti") as well as the lively and catchy ones ("No Creo" and "Que Vuelvas"). You can't forget "Inevitable", a song full of energy, of passion, a song which can move and exite just in 3 minutes!
Again, the main theme is love, "Octavo Dia" and "Donde Estan Los Ladrones" excepted: two songs that want to make think over important themes.
Well, it would be possible to talk hours and hours over this album, over each one of its songs... But maybe your ears can tell you much and much more!

The Remixes

Right after the success of "Pies Descalzos" a new cd with her remixed songs was almost inevitable. Only 4 songs, played in different dance remixes.
There are two version of this album: a european version, with 9 songs, and a second one, which includes the portoguese version of "Estoy Aqui", "Un Poco De Amor" and "Pies Descalzos, Sueños Blancos", but very difficult to be found.

Collecion De Oro

It's a special edition of "Pies Descalzos"; there isn't actually a big difference, it's just a remasterd version with a new cover and booklet, but the tracklist is still the same.

Pies Descalzos

Most of people think as this as her actual first album, since it is the one which let her be known in South America and it's the start point of her big success. 11 wondeful songs, which go from lively traks, such as the hit "Estoy Aqui" and "Un Poco De Amor" to slower ones, such as "Quiero" and "Te Necesito". There aren't particular sounds, few instruments are enough: some classical guitars, a harmonica and Shakira's voice! In spite of this, originality isn't lacking: "Te Espero Sentada" is the best example!
Lyrics seems to have the same theme, an unhappy love, even in the most lively songs. "Se Quiere... Se Mata" is the exception, because of its particular and satirical lyric.

Peligro

Two years after Magia, here it is Little-Shaky back again! It's not a very original album , maybe because it's still too much similar to the first one. The songs are still very simple, catchy, and the same are the lyrics. There are two different version of this album: one has got 8 songs, the other one has got more 2 songs, "Brujeria" and "1968". As you can understand from the title, it's a sort of "hymn" to the protests of young people during the '60.
This album, just as Magia, is impossible to be found. You still can find some copies over the internet, but they quite expensive.

Magia

This is her very first album, written when she was only 13. 8 songs plus a remix, written part by her, part by some other musicans who co-worked with her. Of course, it's a immature album, but the songs sound very nice and catchy; the lyrics are very simple as well and the main theme: the first crushes of a 13 year old girl. Just a song is different from the other: it's "Gafas Oscuras", really a wonderful work! Shakira wrote this song for his father, who lost his young son in a car crash and wore always "Gafas Oscuras" (dark sunglasses) in order to hide his saddness which appeared through his eyes; this song tells such a sad feeling through the innocence of a child and can be so touching and moving. The music is very original, too: in a few notes it moves from a sad mood to fast rhythm and then again to a slow one.
This album is a rarity, it's almost impossible to find it around.
